The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, (BIEK) should be shifted from Kati Pahari to either the National Highway or the Super Highway as the former is an area often affected by violence.
This demand was raised by nationalist parties Awami Jamhoori Party (AJP) and Sindhi Aurat Tanzeem (SAT) who protested outside Karachi Press Club on Wednesday against corruption in examination boards of Sindh that have failed to curb sale of mark sheets and degrees, and cheating in exams.
According to the leaders, examination centres are sold out by board offices each year and that there is 'mafia' that is playing with the future of thousands of children. Talking about their demand of shifting the BIEK, they justified that boards should be accessible to the public. The protesters demanded that an inquiry be conducted against the boards involved in the sale of examination centres where cheating is facilitated.
They shouted slogans against the corrupt system, demanding the government to end cheating in exams and sale of examination centres. They further demanded an inquiry into alleged corruption and sale of degrees and mark sheets.
AJP is running a five-day drive to raise the issue of corruption in examination boards in Sindh. Workers, along with civil society, are holding protests all over the province against all the boards in Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi. The demonstration was led by AJP and SAT leaders, including Saeeda Gopang, Ayaz Chandio and Saddar Panhwar.
