KARACHI: The Sindh home ministry on Wednesday ordered the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to interrogate Moazzam Ali, key facilitator in the Imran Farooq murder case, Express News reported. 

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar claimed on Monday that the facilitator of two alleged killers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leader, Dr Imran Farooq was arrested in Karachi.

“Moazzam Ali played a key role in facilitating the murder, securing a UK visa is not easy and he arranged it for the two suspected killers of the MQM leader,” Nisar said on Wednesday, a day after three other suspects in the case were presented in court.

The decision to create a JIT comes a day after three further suspects were presented in court and handed a 90-day detention.

Police, Rangers and law enforcement agencies are said to be part of the team which will conduct intense grilling of Moazzam Ali and record his statements. Others involved in the case are also said to be questioned.

Following the interrogation, once the results are uncovered, the JIT is said to handover a report to the Home Department.
