SUKKUR: Military dictatorship makes its way into the country when elected leaders fail to deliver, said Sunni Tehreek (ST) central leader Mehboob Sahito on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference at National Press Club, Sukkur, he said that while the party is not against democracy, it condemns the loot and plunder that is taking place in the name of democracy. Accusing political leaders of corruption, he said that they provide cover to each other's wrongdoings in the name of reconciliation.

According to him, while the politicians were not ready for it, the army launched the Zarb-e-Azb operation well in time. "Otherwise, the Taliban would have spread to Balochistan after Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa," he said.

Talking about the on-going operation in Karachi, he said that it was launched against the criminals, no matter which party they belonged to. "This operation is not against any particular party," he said. "Therefore parties should not raise objections."

Sharing his views on the Yemen crisis, Sahito said that we are still facing the repercussions of jumping into the Afghan war and, therefore, should deal with the Yemen issue with extra care.

Referring to the upcoming local government election, he said that the ST will contest the elections at all union councils and challenge those who are responsible for the terrible conditions of Sukkur.
