Traffic management: 11 intersections being widened

Rs700 million issued for the construction work.

GUJRANWALA: Construction work for widening of 11 intersections in the city was inaugurated on Sunday.

Provincial Assembly Member Nawaz Chohan, who is also chairman of the Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA), said widening would help prevent traffic jams at these intersections. He said Rs700 million had been released by the provincial government for the construction work.

GDA director general Maqbool Ahmed Langah said a meeting would soon be arranged with the chief traffic officer to devise a traffic management plan for the intersections.

The intersections were identified as: Mukkaram Masjid Chowk, Dhullay Chowk, Gondlanwala Adda Chowk, Sharif Pura Jinnah Chowk, Kashmir Farid Road Chowk, Sialkot Bypass Chowk, Noshera Road Chowk, Baghbanpura Chowk, Alipur Chowk, Alam Chowk and Awan Chowk.
