FAISALABAD:

Hundreds of paramedics from government-run hospitals staged a protest demonstration on Monday against the Health Department for not providing them a satisfactory service structure and raising their wages.

The protesters from the Allied Hospital, DHQ Hospital and Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) staged a sit in at Zila Council Chowk. They also blocked the University Road.

Punjab Paramedics’ Association secretary general Aneesur Rehman said that the government had promised a new service structure in 2011. “However, the decision has not been implemented,” he said.

He said that the paramedics would stage a protest outside the Chief Minister’s Secretariat at 7-Club Road, Lahore on April 20.
