ISLAMABAD: The Australian High Commission on Saturday held a series of events, competitions and performing in connection with the Australia Day in Spring.

In line with this year’s theme of gender equality and women’s empowerment, three Australian women celebrities — DJ MzRizk, Former MasterChef Australia 2013 contestant Faiza Rehman, and Melbourne hairdresser Joann Gan — came to Pakistan to speak and perform at the Australia Day in Spring event.

The concurrent events had something to offer for anyone who wanted to learn how to cook, style or play a disc jockey.

The music lessons were held at Kuch Khass. A small group of music enthusiasts stood around a table where DJ MzRizk spun beats.

The cooking competition was organised at COTHM Islamabad in collaboration with the 2013 MasterChef Australia contestant Faiza Rehman. As Rehman inspired the students’ creations, they went on to create some delightful dishes.

Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward, who was the judge at the cooking competition, said, “It was an honour to see that all chefs today were women and of immense talent”.

Australian hair stylist Joann Gann collaborated with Depilex Salons Pakistan in holding a hairdressing training and competition at a hotel.
