North Waziristan: Levies trained by army pass out

PESHAWAR: A batch of Levies, comprising 139 recruits, trained by Pakistan Army in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) completed their training at a passing out ceremony on Thursday, a communiqué said. The Levies are part of a security apparatus installed between the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and settled areas known as the Frontier Region (FR). According to the press release, training focussed on transforming levies into an effective force. Maj-Gen Noman Mehmood took oath from the recruits. Recruit Ikramullah clinched the overall top position while in academics and firing, recruits Nazar Khan and Abdul Rauf obtained top positions, respectively. Maj-Gen Mehmood appreciated the role of Levies in establishing the writ of government in a militancy-infested area.
