Poor attendance: NTU students protest exclusion from exam

Administration stops 74 students from taking final exams on account of poor attendance

FAISALABAD:

Scores of students of National Textile University on Thursday protested against the administration after 74 students were stopped from taking the final exams on account of poor attendance. 

Police was called into negotiate with the students who had gathered in front of the campus and who chanting slogans against the administration. Talking to newsmen, Noor Haidar, one of the protesters, said the university administration had removed students from the exams without justification.  “This will ruin the careers of 74 final year students,” he said.  The protesters demanded that students be allowed to take the exams.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the NTU registrar said maintaining 75 per cent attendance was a prerequisite for graduation for final year students. He said only those who had remained absent from were removed from examination halls. He said other students had been urged not to join the protest but they had ignored the instructions.
