Bank heist: Robbers loot Rs5m

They held the two security guards and staff hostage at gunpoint and took the money from cash counter before they fled

KARACHI: Seven unidentified men allegedly looted more than Rs5 million from Summit Bank in Baloch Colony on Thursday.

The robbers also took the weapons from the security guards and the bank's digital video recording system with them. Witnesses and police said that at least seven men entered the bank located at Furniture Market, Baloch Colony, at 9:05am.

They held the two security guards and the staff hostage at gunpoint and took the money from the cash counter before they fled.

Bank officials told the police that more than Rs5 million were robbed. Police officials added that when the security guards tried to resist the robbery, the suspects snatched their weapons from them.

The police have registered an FIR No 122/15 against unidentified persons on behalf of the bank manager.
