LAHORE:

Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal on Monday gave 15 days to divisional commissioners to conduct a survey and identify dilapidated buildings in their areas.

He said the findings of the survey should be used to devise a plan to control roof and building collapse accidents during the monsoon season.

The chief secretary said the buildings that had already been declared dangerous for use should be monitored to prevent any loss of life during the monsoon rains.

He also directed the authorities concerned to come up with a plan to ensure compliance with building control rules and regulations including provision of fire safety equipment and emergency exits.

Chairing a Provincial Steering Committee for Implementation of Chief Minister’s Package for Cholistan meeting, the chief secretary said maintenance work at mobile veterinary units in the area that needed repairs should immediately be started. He directed the Health Department to look into the shortage of women doctors at the Fort Abbas district headquarters (DHQ) hospital.

He directed the Finance Department to regularise the services of people hired for the Scheduled New Expenditure (SNE) posts in the Cholistan Development Authority.
