Targeted: Levies subedar killed in IED blast

Banned organisation claims responsibility

KHAR: A levies official was killed in a targeted improvised explosive devise blast in Badan, Mamond in Bajaur Agency Monday morning.

Officials of the Bajaur political administration confirmed that levies subedar Sultan Bakht was on his way to Government High School Badan where secondary school examinations were in progress when the blast occurred. Bakht was near the school when the IED exploded, killing him on the spot.

The political administration searched the area soon after and arrested nine suspects under the Frontier Crimes Regulation. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan called the media and claimed responsibility for the fatality. The banned militant organisation shared it had appointed a new head and deputy head for its Bajaur chapter.

On Sunday, a suspected TTP commander was killed in a search operation in Bajaur. On Saturday, levies soldier Tayeb Khan was targeted in the agency.

Jirga

At a jirga of Tarkanai and Uthman tribes in Khar on Monday, the Bajaur political agent announced that non-custom paid vehicles were banned in the agency.

Tribes people were asked to register their land with the political administration as well.

The elders assured the political administration they will not allow any terrorists to use their land and that anyone found guilty of association will be punished in accordance with tribal customs.
