Missing facilities: ‘Solar panels for schools with no power connections’

EDOs and elected representatives would visit schools in their constituencies to check education standards

Minister for Education Rana Mashhood said on Friday solar panels were being installed where there were no electricity connections. Presiding over a meeting at DCO’s Office, the minister said the government had allocated billions of rupees to provide missing facilities to schools across the province. He said Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab campaign had been launched to promote quality education. Mashhood urged parents, teachers, media and religious scholars to support the campaign so its success could be ensured. He said DCOs, education EDOs and elected representatives would visit schools in their constituencies to check education standards. He said they had been directed to ensure availability of basic facilities on campuses. He said school councils would be constituted to solve problems of students and teachers. DCO Ghazi Amanullah said that 140,000 children would be enrolled across the district under the programme.
