RAWALPINDI: A man was shot dead under unexplained circumstances in Naseerabad on Thursday.

Unidentified armed assailants opened fire at Arshad Akbar, a resident of Dhoke Gujran, on Misrial Road injuring him critically.


Akbar was shifted to the district headquarters hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.


Meanwhile, the same police arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 3.25kg of hashish from their possession.


Acting on a tip-off, a police party intercepted Rahim and Altaf at a police checkpoint and seized drugs from their possession.


The police have registered separate cases under the relevant laws and further investigation is under way.
