Regional peace: US says Pakistan a stabilising factor

RAWALPINDI: Senior US officials reiterated on Thursday that Pakistan is vital for regional peace and a stabilising factor in the region. Deputy Special Representatives for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) from the US Department of State, Laurel Miller and Office of the Defense Representative, Pakistan, chief, Lt Gen Anthony J Rock called on Secretary Defence Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak in the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday. The meeting discussed the role Pakistan has played in the region. The US officials termed Pakistan a “stabilizing factor” in the region. The secretary defence emphasised that Pakistan has provided multi-faceted support to international community in war on terror including shipment of US/NATO equipment through its air and ground lines of communication. He also briefed the US officials on operation Zarb-e-Azb.
