Jilted: Man consumes poison after marital spat

HARIPUR: A man allegedly committed suicide over a dispute with his wife in Khalabat Township.

The police said on Tuesday that Shafiqur Rehman, 28, married Shabnum a year ago but soon after Shabum developed differences with her in-laws and left.

According to Rehman’s family, he made several reconciliatory attempts; when he visited her on Monday, he threatened to take his life if she did not come home. His family told the police the dejected husband consumed rodent poison on Monday evening and collapsed.
