Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to three men accused of attacking a vigil on the fourth death anniversary of slain governor Salmaan Taseer.
The accused were identified as members of Anjuman Fidayan-i-Khatam-i-Nabuwat. The police had arrested them from a seminary on Multan Road. A division bench headed by Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi had granted bail to Muhammad Adeel, Muhammad Iftikhar and Furqanul Haq.
More than 40 suspects had been detained and six were nominated in the FIR. One of the accused was granted bail earlier and another is at large. An FIR was registered at Gulberg police station under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and Sections 365, 427, 183, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
On January 4, armed men on a motorbike had attacked members of a group of activists holding a vigil at Liberty Chowk to mark Taseer’s fourth death anniversary.
