One couple among 130 cases

LAHORE: As many as 130 cases have so far been registered under the blasphemy laws. The victims include both men and women. But interestingly, a couple has also been sentenced to life in jail under the blasphemy laws.

The Christian couple – Ruqiaya, 38, and her spouse Munir Masih, 35 – is resident of Mustafabad, in Kasur district. They were arrested by the Kasur police on blasphemy charges in 2008. They were sentenced to life-imprisonment on September 21, 2010 by the additional district and sessions judge Kasur.

They have appealed against their conviction in the Federal Shariat Court.
