KARACHI:

World Theatre Day was celebrated amid zeal and fervour at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, on Friday.

The event was organised by the ‘I Am Karachi’ team to highlight the significance of the socio-cultural aspects to help unite the heterogeneous populace of Karachi.

Incorporating various performances including two patriotic songs, a short play and two skit performances, the entire event aimed to stressing the importance of peace and harmony. Music and theatre were used as means of easing out tensions and giving a break from political problems.

According to Dherendra Tiwari, a speaker from India’s National School of Drama, life and theatre are binary and correlated. “Life without drama is nothing. [Drama] is an integral part of life,” he said.
