Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi announced he was tremendously proud of actor-model Zhalay Sarhadi for not “taking off her clothes” in Jalaibee.

The actor made a statement about the recently released crime-caper film on his Facebook page.

Abbasi said he was also proud of director Yasir Jaswal for not carrying an ‘item number’ in the movie.

The actor appreciated Jaswal for not going along with the emerging trend of revealing item numbers in Pakistani films.

The film, after its release on 37 sights and 71 screens across the country, earned a total of approximately Rs10 million (exact figures yet to be compiled) on its opening day.

The figures were confirmed by ARY Films, the movie’s distributor. This is also the biggest opening for any non-holiday/festival release in Pakistan so far.

Hamza’s statement came a day after teaser of Ayesha Omar’s item number made headlines.

What a douche! That’s a really harsh judgement that he’s making there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes all maulana just like Junaid Jumshed in a couple of years.Recommend

People like you really think there’s nothing wrong with scantily clad women dancing, but when it comes to the women in your family, the standards are different.

Hamza is a typical hypocrite PTI supporter. Reham bhabhi and her mini skirt samba dances are fine, IK and his past as a playboy is fine however when it comes to other pakistani women all of a sudden cultural values step in. Please live and let live! Its her choice!Recommend

@Ahmed you’ve just committed an ad hominem fallacy. If you disagree with what hamza Ali Abbasi has to say then attack what he has to say with your own argument of reason and logic, not by attacking his physical characteristics. Also he is a lot more handsome than you’ll probably ever be. Also I feel our industry is beginning to forget the culture and values our forefathers fought and died for Recommend

A lot of the people here need to calm down. All he said was that he’s proud of the actress for not taking her clothes off. Nothing else. Nothing about actressess who do do item numbers having questionable morals. If he has certain beliefs, and other people follow them, he can be proud of them can’t he?Recommend

I totally agree with him, infact we should highly demotivate such kind of craps in our movies since vulgarity is not the only thing to gain fame and success I think !!!Recommend

Must be a real slow day for news at the Tribune for a comment by some random chappie to be considered newsworthy. Who is this guy anyway, and why should we be even remotely interested in his opinions, quoted here without any comment on their obvious misogyny. Paper really needs to have some editorial judgement.Recommend
