Bahria Town chief Malik Riaz on Friday announced that his construction conglomerate will invest billions of rupees to set up power generation plants in Karachi.
“We will install electricity generation units that will run on coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG),” he said in a statement.
The multi-billion rupee project will ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to Bahria Town, he said.
In view of the chronic power shortage, Bahria Town has decided to invest billions of rupees to set up one coal-fired and one LNG-powered electricity generation plant within a period of three to four years. These projects will guarantee uninterrupted power to Bahria Town Karachi.
Malik Riaz said that he wants Karachi to be counted among the world’s top cities.
The Bahria Town project has opened up employment and business opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people, Malik Riaz said.
