“It should be clear now that Sindh government never facilitated terrorists,” Memon said referring to a statement by Mirza hours before his currently delayed hanging.
The minister was talking to the media at the central office of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Thursday.
He took part in a cleanliness and beautification campaign organised by the KATI as part of the on-going “Clean, Green and Peaceful Sindh” campaign of Sindh government.
Memon planted a sapling on the main road facing KATI office to launch a tree plantation drive in the industrial area.
He rejected rumours of any change in Sindh government. Such measures are out of the question when the civilian government and military leadership agree on eliminating terrorism.
Regarding Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) joining provincial government, he said, discussions were underway to bring MQM back into cabinet. “We are holding talks with MQM and now it is up to the top leadership of the party to decide.”
During his meeting with KATI office-bearers, Memon assured the industrialists and businessmen that Sindh government was striving to revive the trade and economic activities of Karachi.
Development work in Karachi has geared up to make this metropolis neat and tidy, he added. Among the on-going projects he said repairs of Jam Sadiq Ali Bridge have started, all the major roads in Karachi were being repaired and renovated, besides the installation of new street lights in the city would start soon.
Memon said Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has assured early release of funds for the repair of roads.
