The Islamabad High Court (IHC) indefinitely adjourned on Wednesday an appeal against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Dr Raheela Magsi’s disqualification as no respondent seemed interested in contesting the case.
Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamir Farooq heard the appeal, filed by Magsi against her disqualification by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from contesting senate elections on the basis of her domicile.
At this stage, the bench observed that passing of an order in this regard could lead to an irreparable loss to the applicant, as earlier the Supreme Court had directed the ECP to issue her notification of success against an Islamabad senate seat.
The court also observed that no respondent seemed interested in the case as no one appeared before the court after notices were issued to them.
The Supreme Court had conditionally allowed Magsi to contest the election and directed the ECP to withhold the result.
