Every four years Pakistanis look forward to one thing; the cricket World Cup. The World Cup season is not just about matches, but all the festivities that come along with them. Donning green jerseys, staying up all night, eating our favourite local snacks and trolling our friends from across the border.

One of the most crucial things to look forward to during the World Cup season (besides all the festivities of course) is the World Cup anthem. This year’s anthem, Phir Se Game Uthadein produced by Strings got mixed reviews. Many people hated it, some loved it and some were just indifferent towards it.

And then came the Bieber girls, who just recently took Pakistan by storm with their soulful rendition of Justin Bierber's 2010 hit, Baby.

Phir Se Game Uthadein ‘Anthem 4', which is produced by actor-director Adnan Malik, features the girls humming Justin Bieber's Baby before transitioning into the 1992 World Cup anthem 'The world is coming down, the flags are up'. The carefully crafted song then picks up the pace incorporating a soulful Qawwali. The video also features Lahore's pehelwaans, dancing horses, and of course, the unmatched beauty of Lahore.

Before this version, Coca-Cola upped their game by producing an acapella version featuring a choir and voices from all over Karachi.

The uplifting track is a Coke rendition of Who Rule the World by Kasey Carlone and Matt Slogett which was used as the theme song of the 1992 World Cup in Australia which Pakistan won.

cribb | 9 years ago | Reply Reeshmaan had a humble background. She rose to fame and respect. I hope these girls find their place if they deserve it. Its not their fault that they had to sing Justin baby. If people were more familiar with some other tunes, they would have sung that one.

ModiFied | 9 years ago | Reply I have no doubt that Pakistan produces some of the finest talents in music. Music and art is in Pakistan's genes. Bollywood's biggest names come from Pakistani territory. Pakistan can become Soft Super power if religious extremism is taken care of. Pakistan has the capacity to supply musicians to entire world in my view. Unfortunately Pakistan is doing very little to let this natural talent flourish. I am sure per sq. kilometer Pakistan will have highest number of musicians in the world. Spontaneity which I often see in Pakistani music, is rarely seen elsewhere. Because of lack of local support and smaller local market, life of an average Pakistani musician is relatively short. Hope some day Pakistan will become a normal peaceful tolerant country and subcontinent will be able to enrich itself with these great artists.

Kaleem Ullah | 9 years ago | Reply These coke ads, they are too obsessed with Urban Educated Youth. The other segments do step in but ads mainly revolve around urban characters. You got to show more respect towards all market segments. Regarding songs, they are all well done, however their success is indirectly related to the actual success in playing grounds. No one would love these songs after early defeats, however people are loving them more now.
