Students of private schools in Gujarabad area of the provincial capital protested against the local administration on Friday for neglecting the area’s drainage system.
Construction work at a nearby canal has resulted in water being diverted to small channels in Khamosh Colony, causing an overflow of sewage water, said All Private Schools Association President Zafar Iqbal during the protest in front of Peshawar Press Club on Friday. He added students at almost all the schools are giving their exams but stagnant water on the streets is making it difficult for them to reach on time.
Iqbal said the pool of sewage water also stains school uniforms of students as they struggle to pass through. Since the water has flooded the streets, it has also affected the walls of houses lining the colony.
