The US army worked shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Army in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for rehabilitation of flood survivors, he added. Mutual co-operation will further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries,he said. “Both are fighting the war for salvation of humanity and this war should be won at any cost,” he added.
Giving details of the relief operations, Munter said 35 helicopters took part in rehabilitation work through which more than 40,000 people had been shifted to safe areas. The US army has distributed more than 16 million pounds of relief goods.
On this occasion, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Asif Yasin Ali said that the Pakistan Army has proved that it can overcome any disaster as well as any army of the world. “Pak-US relations are very strong and no misunderstanding can affect its relations,” he added. “The Pakistan Army has been successful in the war against terrorism, the terrorists have been defeated in K-P and life is returning to normal,” he said.He further said that the Pakistan Army will decide for itself whether to go for an operation in North Waziristan or not.
