As the spring season springs up in the capital, designer lawns have come into bloom. A new addition to the lawn bandwagon, designer Ayesha Farooq Hashwani launched her latest collection at the So Kamal flagship store in Centaurus Mall on Wednesday. A large gathering of fashion enthusiasts attended the event.
Hashwani’s Kamal Lawn brought forth some unconventional prints and cuts for this season. The collection comprises 17 prints and explores darker hues, diverging from traditional floral prints. According to a press release, the designer said her team is pleased to present their finest designs, styles and embellishments. Upholding quality and introducing designs that boast bold hues and aesthetics have been their priority this season.
So Kamal has previously launched lawn collections by designers Zara Shahjehan and Khadijah Shah. It has now introduced Hashwani, a promising talent under its banner. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Erum Ahmed, creative director and CEO of So Kamal, said she had been following Hashwani’s work. Eyeing the potential of pret designers for a while, she was positive about the venture and excited about what the designer will bring to the market.
“We always try to bring in something different for the market. Hashwani’s work was exactly what we were looking for,” she said. With plain fronts and printed backs, the fabric features embroidery and embellishments. Hashwani has made use of blues and browns, which Ahmed said, have received a great response.
“The prints are made for ponchos and jackets, which are far from traditional wear. It is contemporary while maintaining the designer’s signature style,” she said. “You can see her work, but at the same time, the lawn has not lost its essence,” she added. The collection provides flexibility in design, giving options to buyers to put together a unique ensemble. Faryal Ahmed, who attended the event, said, “I think this lawn speaks volumes of fabulous designs by Hashwani, who is a household name in high-end fashion and So Kamal for its great collaboration.”
So Kamal’s flagship store offers clients with home textiles, unstitched fabrics and pret wear. It has introduced designer lawn collections over the past three years, along with establishing eight lifestyle retail stores across the country. It plans on introducing various additional textile products in Pakistan.
