In the offing: Police records set to be computerised

LAHORE:

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Umer Saif said on Wednesday that the government had recently decided to computerise police records.

He said the entire records of the force would be computerised using an inventory management system devised by the board. Saif said a pilot of the project would commence in the city. He said records regarding the procurement of vehicles, petrol, armaments, food, uniforms among other items would be computerised under the initiative. Saif said this would go a long way in curbing unauthorised use and embezzlement of the articles.

Saif said the pilot of the project would begin functioning by the end of the year. He said this would make police records easily assessable.
