LAHORE: Situation regarding women’s rights has changed a lot over the years, former Supreme Court Bar Association president Asma Jahangir said on Wednesday. She was speaking at a seminar organised by Lahore High Court Bar Association in connection with the International Women’s Day. “Daughters of people who used to oppose women’s participation in politics are now part of the assemblies. The women cannot be disgraced any more. Despite having reservations about the system, I greet all the women sitting in the parliament,” she said. Former LHC judge Nasira Iqbal also spoke on the occasion and expressed reservations over the legislation about underage marriages. “The protection should be made part of 22nd constitutional amendment. Women parliamentarians should raise their voice on it,” she said.
