Behind bars: Police arrest two alleged extortionists

Two extortionists allegedly demanding Rs1 million from a trader in Charsadda were arrested on Wednesday. A security official is also said to be their accomplice.


Muhammad Ali, who runs a medicine business, told Prang police some extortionists were calling him and demanding money. Ali also provided police with the number from which calls were being made.


After receiving the complaint, police started investigating the case. Prang SHO Imran Khan said they conducted a raid in Majoki area and arrested two extortionists, Attaullah and Fahim, registering a case against them.


During initial investigation, the accused disclosed the name of their accomplice, Nadeem, who is a security official deputed in Mohmand Agency. The SHO added they contacted senior officials of the force Nadeem is serving in, in order to arrest him soon. According to the detained men, they were not part of the crime as Nadeem used their phone to make threatening calls to Ali.
