Tough times ahead: New WASA boss takes charge

Tahir Ahmed is likely to face various challenges, i.e. bad financial health, irregular payment of salaries, etc

HYDERABAD: The newly-appointed managing director of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Tahir Ahmed, who took charge of the office on Wednesday, has announced the immediate revival of WASA's information and complaint cells.

Ahmed is likely to face various challenges such as bad financial health, irregular payment of employees’ salaries, weak infrastructure of water supply and drainage, deteriorated water filtration plants and low recovery of electricity bills from both private and public consumers.

The former managing director, Agha Abdul Raheem, and many other officers in WASA's parent department, the Hyderabad Development Authority, were removed after the Supreme Court's order.

The court dismissed the Sindh government's appeal against the SC's earlier judgment against postings in government departments on deputation and OPS basis.
