Says Italy and Pakistan have yet to fully utilise the immense potential available to them in bilateral trade

ROME:

Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy Tahmina Janjua, in an exclusive interview with an Italian publication in Rome, has said that Italy and Pakistan have yet to fully utilise the immense potential available to them in bilateral trade.

“We have approached the Italian business community in Rome, Milan, Bari, and Venice since the country is decentralised in terms of business centres,” she said. “Pakistan offers exciting opportunities for growth and Italian firms should not shy away from exploring these.

“Apart from the energy sector, which sees the presence of Eni – an oil industry company – in Pakistan since 2000, other Italian companies must come forward.”

The envoy also tried to tone down concerns over Pakistan’s energy crisis and security situation, saying the country remains a regional hub. She added that Italy is undergoing an economic crisis and was looking for new markets.
