Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday summoned the cabinet's defense committee for a meeting tomorrow. The meeting has been summoned after the release of diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks.

The meeting will be headed by the prime minister and will be attended by Interior Minister Rehman Mailk , Foreign Minister Shah Mehmod Qureshi, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and other civil and military leaders.

According to military sources, the Pakistan Army has expressed concerns over the leaks, and wants the US to explain its position over the information made public by WikiLeaks.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a phone call to President Asif Ali Zardari from Turkmenistan to discuss WikiLeaks revelations.

They agreed that WikiLeaks’ disclosures are illegal and Clinton assured the president that the US will continue its support for democracy in Pakistan.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral issues including the political impact of the publishing of the diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks.

Aftab Kenneth Wilson | 13 years ago | Reply Summoning of Cabinet Defense Committee is only an Eye Wash. Lot has been leaked about State Pillars and Politicians which needs lot of review if we want our country to move forward with our raised heads. There must not be any compromise in derailing democracy in Pakistan. All must work in their constitutional framework. Let the politicians workout what is good for the country. 63 years are enough for all types of games, now please move forward for the sake of Mother Land.
