KARACHI: Muhammad Amir’s much anticipated comeback in domestic cricket was spoiled by rain as the match between Omar Associates and Army was abandoned on day one of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II first-round match in Rawalpindi.

Amir has signed for Omar Associates to appear in domestic cricket instead of signing for a first-class department.

Meanwhile, Jahangir Shah scored a century to put Navy in command against KESC in a Group A match being played at the RLCA Academy in Karachi.

Batting first, Navy made 338-7 in their 83 overs as Jahangir contributed 144 off 250 balls — hitting 18 boundaries, while Abdul Latif Junejo chipped in with 62 runs. Mir Hamza picked up three wickets, while Taj Wali and Shahzeb Ahmed got two scalps each.

In reply, KESC were 18 for no loss in five overs when the days’ play ended.

Meanwhile, Medicam posted a mammoth score of 468-8 in 83 overs against Saudi Cricket International as Arsalan Farzand notched up a quickfire 156 laced with 27 boundaries in a 163-ball stay, while Shahzar Hasan contributed 98 runs to the total.

Nadeem Babar and Wajid Saleem got two wickets apiece.
