Phone snatchers: Motorway police nab two imposters

Two suspects have been arrested by the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) for their alleged involvement in snatching mobile phones while posing as officials of an intelligence agency.


Khuram Shazad, a resident of Islamabad, told an NHMP official near Tarnol Phattak that two persons in a white Nissan (ANR-993) forced him to sit in the car. According to the victim, the suspects, after covering some distance, deprived him of his mobile phone and Rs5,000  and later they threw him out of the car.


The officer informed the NHMP base, which alerted all patrolling units. A patrolling team stopped the car near Tarnol Phattak and apprehended the occupants.


The team also recovered the mobile phone and the snatched cash.


The alleged snatchers, identified as Bilal Mahmood and Muhammad Sajjad, were handed over to the Tarnol police for further investigation.
