The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) honoured female athletes and officials by holding an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) International Women’s Day Workshop in Karachi in collaboration with Diya FC and Balochistan United FC at the Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre on Sunday.
According to Diya FC founder Sadia Shaikh, 25 players and 25 referees and officials participated in the workshop and played a match as well.
“This is the first time this workshop has taken place in Pakistan,” Sadia told The Express Tribune. “It’s just a beginning. We had a good turnout as well.”
The programme included lectures on women’s football development in the grassroots level, the importance of football at the district level, linking football with education, coaching, and how to handle sports injuries.
The workshop also took place in Lahore and Islamabad.
