MINGORA:

Thousands of tourists flocked to Malam Jabba on Saturday to witness a skiing gala.

Locals and skiers from around the country took part in the event organised jointly by the district administration, local communities, Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) and Pakistan Army.

“I have been to every tourist destination of the country, but never seen such dazzling beauty,” Dr Hina from Islamabad told The Express Tribune. “Every mountain and stream is scenic.” Some of the tourists took to the slopes themselves and said the experience was an adrenalin rush.

Local skiers also appreciated the efforts and urged authorities to organise more such events and festivals. “Thousands of tourists at Malam Jabba are proof that peace has returned to Swat after the tremendous sacrifices of the armed forces,” said Swat DC Mehmood Aslam Wazir.
