FC soldier killed in Kalat bomb attack

Six others, including passerby, injured when remote-controlled device went off on RCD highway near Kalat.

QUETTA: A Frontier Corps soldier was killed and six others, including a passerby, were injured when a remote-controlled device went off on RCD highway near Kalat, some 150 kilometres south of Quetta, on Wednesday.

According to an FC official, the vehicle was heading towards an FC camp from Kalat city when an explosive device, attached to a bicycle, was detonated by remote control near Mugulzai area of Kalat.

FC and police personnel rushed to the spot soon after the blast and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, where an FC man identified as Mohammad Saban succumbed to his injuries.

Two of the injured are stated to be in critical condition and have been rushed to Quetta.

This was the second bomb attack in the region this week.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack on FC till the filing of this report.
