Zardari orders restoration of electricity to Jinnah Hospital

Express April 23, 2010

KARACHI:

President Asif Ali Zardari gave directions that the electricity supply of any hospital should not be suspended.

The president gave these directions on the suspension of the power supply of Jinnah Hospital by the KESC. The Karachi Electric Power Company had disconnected the power supply of the hospital because of nonpayment of 22.8 million rupees arrears.

The power supply of the hospital was suspended for one and a half hour due to which patients in the emergency, general wards and operation theaters faced difficulties.

When the president was informed about the incident, he instructed Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad to direct KESC to restore the power supply.

KESC has every right to cut of the power supply when they are not being paid for their services. Debtors must pay the debt to get their share of electricity.
