KARACHI:

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed authorities to launch a strict campaign against transporters charging excessive fares on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

He instructed the police, district administrations, National Highway Authority (NHA), traffic police, and other relevant departments to ensure immediate action against transporters involved in overcharging passengers.

Sharjeel said that some transporters arbitrarily increase fares during the festive season, placing an additional financial burden on passengers, which is unacceptable. He added that providing maximum relief to the public and preventing unauthorised fare hike is the responsibility of the concerned authorities.

The senior minister directed all officials to take indiscriminate action against transporters charging extra fares within their respective jurisdictions and submit daily reports of the operations to the department.
