FAISALABAD: Qatar Airways is starting direct international flights on the Faisalabad route from July 17 this year, disclosed Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Rizwan Ashraf. He was chairing a meeting of the FCCI standing committee on airlines and tourism on Tuesday. He termed it a major breakthrough and said that international flights from Faisalabad will lead to a quantum jump in the business of air travel in addition to facilitating exporters regularly making visits to various international destinations. Ashraf said that Faisalabad was earning $6 billion per annum from textile exports which could be further increased by starting direct international flights from this city. He added that other airlines have also conducted surveys to assess passenger load in the city with a population of 8 million. He said that Faisalabad airport is ideally located and was the first choice of people living in surrounding districts.
