KARACHI:
Over half-a-dozen people were reportedly detained during an overnight targeted raid on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) office in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday. The raid was conducted by the Rangers at Hunaid City residential apartments in Block 17, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where the MQM office is also located. The MQM said that the Rangers had raided their party office on wrong information. “Our parliamentarians were present in the office at the time of the search operation but the Rangers left since they did not find anything illegal,” said party sources. The party denied that the Rangers arrested or detained any party activists. On the other hand, a Rangers spokesperson, when contacted, rejected the reports of the raid or detentions at the MQM office.
