ANP welcomes inquiry committee decision

Committees to be formed to probe into the case of an unannounced crackdown against the ANP in Sultanabad.

KARACHI: The Awami National Party (ANP), Sindh chapter, have welcomed the decision of Sindh chief minister and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to constitute a high-level inquiry committee, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

These committees will be formed to probe into the case of an unannounced crackdown against the ANP in Sultanabad and other Pashtun-populated areas in the city. More than 700 ANP activists were arrested during the operation.

The party’s acting chief, Sindh, Asmatullah Khan Mehsood said the committee will consist of FIA and other intelligence personnel who will submit their reports within seven days and strict action will be taken against those who are involved in the discriminatory action against the ANP Sindh, he said in the statement.
