In a press release issued by the company, they claimed that it was the government who owed them Rs100 billion, not the other way round as Ali claimed at a press conference held in Hyderabad. The company said that the minister had gone on record over KE’s dues, different figures at different times. For example a few days ago Ali claimed KE’s payables had gone up to Rs30 billion.
According to the KE spokesperson, Ali should stop throwing random figures around. “It is not K-Electric but the government who owes us Rs100 billion in arrears,” he said. “The government claims to have ‘eased’ the circular debt in the country but KE had not received its dues.”
Responding to the minister’s comments about nationalising the company, the spokesperson said this was a contradictory stance. “On one hand the ministry is looking to privatise major entities and, on the other, they are talking about nationalising a profitable organisation.”
