Nawaz, a student of ninth grade, was shot by the Taliban gunmen who attacked the Army Public School on December 16th, killing 150 people which included 132 children.
He was flown to the UK on Thursday evening to receive treatment for his injured arm. Two doctors from Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) are accompanying Nawaz, during the flight, for his assistance.
Doctors at LRH had advised Nawaz's parents to shift him to another facility as his could not be treated at the hospital and it was feared that the young student may lose his limb.
Following the advise of LRH doctors, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approved Rs30.6 million for his treatment abroad.
Malala, who hails from Swat, knows some of what Nawaz may be going through. After she was shot in the head by the Taliban in October 2012, she too had to be shifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
