Sports complex opened in Swat

The opening was welcomed by students, sports players and athletes from the region.

SWAT: The long awaited sports complex in the Swat valley opened its doors to the public on Monday. The opening was welcomed by students, sports players and athletes from the region, “This sports complex has given us a place where we can unwind and practice,” Mughal Ahsan, a student from the valley, told The Express Tribune.

The opening ceremony was attended by Brig Hamayun Aziz, who said that funds for this project were issued by the Peshawar Corps Commander, Lt-Gen Asif Yasin Malik.

“The sports complex initially was only open to civil servants but now the general public can also avail this facility by paying nominal membership,” Brigadier Hamayun said.

On this occasion, Akhtar Ali, Director Physical Instructor told The Express Tribune, “The complex has been built as per international standards and provides facilities for all indoor games. The complex will provide a venue where people can enjoy themselves.”

Later at the ceremony, a volleyball match was played among two local clubs and was watched by a large number of people including army officers.

Volleyball, table tennis, squash, gymnastic, bodybuilding, snooker are among the facilities that will be provided at the sports complex.
