SHIKARPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said on Thursday that the war on terror cannot be won solely with a military operation, adding that the police force needed to be overhauled and depoliticised -- especially in Sindh and Punjab.

The PTI chief was addressing a crowd shortly after visiting the site of the Shikarpur blast, in which 61 people were killed.

"Innocent people are being killed in sectarian clashes, and the Sindh government should identify the culprits." Imran said.

He questioned the capabilities of the Sindh police, asking, "Is it so difficult for the police to find out what group hails from which area? Every police station is aware of such things," he said.

"We need to find the root cause; find out why the police can't find these culprits," he said.

"Police need to be depoliticised. If we do not depoliticise police, the problems will not be fixed."

Imran spoke proudly of the police in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), claiming that they have become a model in Pakistan and that members are recruited based on merit.

"The police is being used for political gains," Imran said.

"Up until we do not depoliticise our police, there will not be peace."

Hitting out at the Sindh government, the PTI chief said he was yet to see worse conditions than those in interior Sindh.

"The National Finance Commission (NFC) award brings so much money into Sindh, where does all that money go? The vaderas and politicians eat all that money."

You probably read the heading and the adrenaline rushed in you forcing you to reply immediately. The report said that NADRA identified 17,504 bogus votes (either cast by someone else or had invalid national identity card numbers). Whatever the Supreme court decides doesn't change the NADRA report. "Most peaceful and fair elections in NA-251”
Ebaad | 9 years ago | Reply @Adnan Siddiqi: Yeah right. That decision makes those 17,504 bogus votes (cast by someone else or had invalid national identity card numbers) reported by NADRA as valid votes and the elections in NA-251 most peaceful and fair elections. Right? R.I.P logic.
