KARACHI: The Sindh government on Wednesday transferred home secretary Abdul Rahim Soomro. It is the second time in a month that Sindh has transferred its Home Secretary.

Soomro had been appointed on January 9, after the Corps Commander Karachi had expressed concerns over the performance of his predecessor, Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi, during the apex committee meeting.

On Wednesday, Soomro was transferred, two days before a high level meeting chaired by the prime minister is scheduled to be held.

The chief of army staff, chief minister, governor Sindh, members of intelligence agencies and police are expected to attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, Mumtaz Ali Shah, the secretary to CM, has been handed interim charge of the department. Shah has previously worked as the additional secretary of home department.

Sources speaking about the transfer said that the Sindh government was not happy with Soomro's performance.
