10 home appliances we can’t do without

Can you imagine spending a day without technology?  

In this day and age? No, you can’t. From huge machinery to home appliances, we are surrounded by technology. In fact, it has become an essential part of our everyday lives. We wake up to them every morning and sleep with them every night, and living without them just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Here’s a list of 10 home appliances that we simply can’t do without.

1.       Toaster and/or Sandwich Maker

You don’t want to be late for work but you can’t skip breakfast either. Thanks to these contraptions we call toasters and sandwich makers, we don’t do the making – they do it for us!

2.       Microwave Oven

Admit it, you use this for everything! From making tea to noodles to desserts to what not!

3.       Grinder and Juicer

The finger licking food that you can’t stop devouring at the dinner table wouldn’t have been this delicious without those yummy masalas your mum makes in the grinder. And what is a meal without a thirst quencher? Yup, all those delicious fruits we choose to ‘drink’ and not eat, would definitely not have been as slurpicious if it weren’t for those juicers! And of course, Ammi’s secret ingredient!

4.       Refrigerator

This is our ultimate all-in-one grocery, fast-food, home-cooked, snack and dessert go-to store! From last night’s leftovers, to scrumptious daily delights, the refrigerator has it all. It is your companion in boredom, your best-friend in the middle of the night and saviour for when Ammi is travelling!



5.       Washing Machine

Doing laundry would have been a pain without washing machines. Especially when you have work or studying to do all week.

You can’t just put on the clothes you pulled out of the washing machine without ironing them first!

7.       Air-Conditioners

We all know how hot Karachi can be. Most of us, spoilt brats, out there only survive the Karachi summer because we have air-conditioners by our sides!



8.       Water Geysers

And for the winters, we rely on water geysers. A hot water bath wouldn’t have been a task and a half without one.

We CANNOT imagine our lives without television. It is the only form of technology that everyone, from our grandparents to the youngest child in the house, loves but can never agree upon. We spent hours and hours every week in front of our TV sets without any qualms. And now that we have Quad Core LED TVs, we love our TVs more than ever before.

Smart families have Smart TVs.



Yup, we can’t do without them. And no, we will not give them up. Dependency? What dependency? I am independent because of these appliances!
