Fraud case: Former senator escapes from custody
The former lawmaker was handcuffed
RAWALPINDI:
A former senator managed to escape from the court premises on Monday after his bail extension plea was rejected and arrest orders issued. Ganj Mandi police had booked former senator Abdul Malik Qadri in 2011 in a property fraud case on the complaint of Dr Ibrar Hussain, for which he got bail later. Qadri had filed for bail extension at the LHC Rawalpindi bench. Justice Sikandar Zulqarnain Saleem rejected the application and ordered police to arrest the former senator. The former lawmaker was handcuffed and was being taken to jail when he managed to escape from police custody allegedly with connivance of some police officials responsible for his security. The police arrested investigation officer SI Rana Akram and head constable Muhammad Latif. A case was registered against the two officials at the Civil Lines Police Station.
