Mishap: Four burnt to death as vehicle catches fire

Four people were burnt to death when a Pajero caught fire on Bypass Road in Mardan on Saturday.



Rescue 1122 official Dr Haris said Abdullah, 21, a resident of Irum Colony and son of former union council nazim Aurangzeb Khan, took his vehicle to a mechanic to get the brakes fixed.


Haris added Abdullah, mechanic Mukhtiar, his assistant and another worker of the auto workshop went for a test drive after the problem
was said to be fixed.


Haris said Abdullah accelerated to check the brakes, but the brakes failed when applied, as a result of which the vehicle rammed into a roadside tree.


The rescue official said the vehicle soon caught fire which engulfed the jeep within seconds. All four occupants of the vehicle had been burnt to death by the time rescue workers arrived.
